The Jewish Day School Preschool
The Jewish Day School Preschool serves children ages 3 through 5 years. Our
program follows developmentally appropriate practices that facilitate the
development of the whole child as an emergent learner. It strives to provide a
safe, nurturing and engaging environment that is inclusive, integrated, and
interactive. Judaic values are woven into our approach of teaching social
interaction, helping the children to become self-confident learners and
cooperative friends. Consistent routines help us to enable children to
successfully navigate through transitions, and function as part of the group.
Learning to use their words, as well as understand and effectively manage their
emotions while interacting with others, is an ongoing process as children grow
in our school setting.
The Preschool strives to foster Jewish identity through talking and learning about God, Torah, holidays, the people and the land of Israel. We encourage the practice of mitzvot and tikkun olam in our daily interactions within the classroom and as part of the greater school community.
Cognitive development is fostered through exploration of both Judaic and General Studies. Ample experimentation is used to foster inquisitive minds and the love of learning while promoting risk taking and building self-confidence. Our preschool embraces each child at his or her level of development, understanding that just as there can be a wide difference among children within a group, there can also be a wide difference of ability within the individual child as he or she is working on different types of skills.
In our preschool community we value the partnership between home and school and encourage all families to embrace the opportunities provided to grow and learn together.
